I have been working away this weekend on our laundry room and its so close to being done I can see the end! I wanted to share another room I have big plans for this year – our living room. I first mentioned that I wanted to do an update in my 2016 projects and goals post, but I wanted to come back today and explain a little more.
First update is shiplap! Just like Chip and JoJo say “shiplap, shiplap, shiplap”! I’ve already added it to our laundry room (post coming soon) and next I’m tackling the dining room. So, of course I have to tie the living room into the rest of the house. I’ve struggled with decorating our tv wall for quite sometime, and I think if the space allows I will center the tv on the wall, add some new lighting and some simple art or decor.
Joe and I have also been talking about purchasing a new sofa this year and the Matthew sectional from Jonathan Louis Furniture is on the top of our list. I’ve also been thinking about a new rug and possibly new curtains or maybe some barn door window treatments. We have a large sliding glass door and I think the barn doors will be perfect to bring in that farmhouse look that I love.
I want to stain and update the hardware on our existing tv console to save some money and save us the hassle of selling it and having to purchase a new one. I have some amazing hardware from Antique Farmhouse that I can’t wait to use. My inspiration comes from this beautiful tv console from Restoration Hardware and I think I can pull it off! Our console has the same dimensions and glass front doors.
We will be keeping our existing ottoman and side chair. The ottoman gets a lot of use from Scooby and we love it too. It’s a great place to sit, prop up our feet and it’s even big enough to lay on. Our side chair is one of my favorite purchases from last year. It is seriously THE most comfortable chair. Even though it doesn’t face the television, I still sit in it almost everyday while browsing on my phone or computer. When we have company over, we pull the chair inwards and towards the tv, so someone always has the best seat in the house!
I can’t wait to get started on this mini makeover of our living room. I feel like I have finally found my style and our whole house is coming together, slowly but surely!
