Kitchen Pendants

These kitchen pendants have completely changed the look of our kitchen, I first shared them on Instagram last week but, wanted to drop in and do a quick post on our new lighting.

I have wanted pendant lighting in the kitchen since the day we moved in. It wasn’t an option when we originally built the house, even though they do offer it now. These World Market pendants were on sale a few months ago for $79 each, I immediately purchased them and they’ve been patiently waiting to be installed ever since. We had to hire an electrician to install these for us, but it was worth every penny. If you have been following me on Instagram since the beginning, originally I purchased these can light to pendant conversions from Ballard Designs. They didn’t work because our can lights are pop ins and LEDs. I was rather disappointed but knew that everything happens for a reason.

I have loved these pendants since I first saw them in the hallway of my favorite DIY blog – Young House Love. I then saw them again in the dining room of Liz Marie. By this time we had already replaced our dining chandelier, so replacing it again didn’t seem logical. I had the idea to use them as pendants but thought they might be a little too big. However, when I started noticing kitchens I had saved on Pinterest and some of my favorites from Instagram, they all had one thing in common – oversized pendants. (ps if you love these lights but they are too big for your space, there are smaller versions at Ballard Designs)

I’m obsessed. These lights have taken our kitchen to the next level and I think they were made for our space. Luckily, we have a very large peninsula so it balances the space. We have had the pendants Β for a couple weeks now, and its as if they have always been here. They match perfectly with the other lighting in our home (I’m a fan of black accents) and also help to define the kitchen area. We still have a long ways to go in this basic builder kitchen, but slowly it is becoming the kitchen of my dreams!
