It’s our last week of the Shop the House Fall Edition! For some reason this week, I have been excited about decorating for Halloween more than fall. It might of been because I scored some major deals on Halloween candy at Target, or because it seems like Halloween night is when the weather finally starts to cool down for us. Could also be all the black accents I’ve been using lately…

I got these pumpkins last year at Target, but they are available again this year too! They reminded me a little bit of mud cloth, so I grabbed my DIY mudcloth pillow and a black chair to add to the vignette.
Changing the lamp shades, instead of the whole lamp is an easy and quick update to any room. If you have multiple lamps in your home, try swapping the shades for a whole new look. It’s fun and way more cost effective than buying new lamps. I came home with new lamps for the bedroom last week and Joe told me I needed therapy for my lamp addiction. I think he might be right! 🙂
The black tray is were we put our sunglasses, keys, cellphones, etc after coming in the house. That tray gets a lot of use so it’ll always have to stay here, but painting it black makes it seem brand new and I didn’t have to buy another one. I used my books again – they are so great for adding levels and height to decor. Plus, they are so neutral and non distracting.
This set up has been my favorite of the last couple weeks, so this one is staying up for awhile! Once the weather cools off just a little bit more, I’ll be bringing out my white pumpkins and more decor I’m sure. But for now, I’m loving this simple and subtle approach to fall decorating.
