It’s the third week of the One Room Challenge and we are working on our master bath. Check out week one, for all the details on my design plans & before photos and week two for what we have done so far!
I’m keeping a promise I made to myself earlier this year, by being completely honest and open here on the blog. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away this week. I found out Easter morning. My mother called me early that morning and I thought she was calling to tell me Happy Easter like she always does. I was working and couldn’t answer, but when I listened to her voicemail and heard her voice, I immediately knew it was concerning my grandmother. Her health has been declining since February and it was only a matter of time.
Needless to say, nothing was completed in our bathroom this week and I’m not sure about next week either. Of course, family is way more important than any stupid bathroom. However, I still feel compelled to write a post as this challenge does require weekly updates, even if I am a day or two late posting. So I write this in an airport, on a layover back to California. 🙂
I do have a few updates I can share though – like the never ending search for a California compliant shower fixtures. I purchased a large order for the Kohler Hydro-Rail with a matching rain shower head, sprayer and hose just like the one in my design board. Only to discover a few weeks later, it wasn’t going to be shipped to me because it was not California compliant. Dreams crushed.
I discovered in order to be California compliant the product has to have a flow rate 2.0 gpm (gallons per minute). And luckily, Kohler has a new product that can still accommodate a hand shower and a rain head. Plus it’s available in my favorite finish – Vibrant Brushed Bronze.
I was also able to order the hand shower I originally wanted. It has some black detailing on it that will tie in the other black accents of the space – like the shower doors and sink faucets. I didn’t want to have too much black, but didn’t want too much bronze either. So I think this new option will be a perfect and I can’t wait to share it all completed and installed.
We still have a lot of work to do on this little space and it’s going to be a race to the finish line!
