A Black + White Christmas

A Very Simple Christmas | Black and White Christmas Decor | helloallisonblog.com

If you have been following my blog over the last few months, then you know I like to keep our decorating very simple and the holidays are no different. Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for by far, in fact I love it so much I start decorating earlier and earlier every year. I just don’t think a month is long enough to enjoy our Christmas tree, so I usually start before Thanksgiving but it comes down on December 26th. πŸ™‚

I was lucky enough this year to get a new tree and I love it! I wanted one that was a little bit different and more modern. In the past, I’ve had a very rustic style but it’s become more modern over the last year and I wanted Christmas to reflect that. I call this our Charlie Brown tree and I love how different it is!

I wanted to go with a black and white theme this year. I started by adding the black and white ribbon and because the tree is so sparse, I cut the ribbon into smaller sections and tied them around the branches instead of doing a more traditional ribbon swag.

I Β also added bigger globe lights for a more modern look and I love how bright they are! Originally, I went with frosted globes but decided I like the glass globes better. The white ornaments I had from last year, but for the black ornaments I loved the new ones from Hearth and Hand with Magnolia at Target.Β I used a black and white throw blanket asΒ a simple tree skirt. Β I love the pattern on it and it reminds me of mudcloth, plus we can still use it throughout the year.

Since we weren’t able to complete our fireplace project this year, I created a faux mantel with shelving. I originally planned on these shelves in our kitchen, but they weren’t deep enough for dishes. Now they are perfect for when I need a quick shelf! Β I added the nesting houses and some wire brush trees for a modern Christmas village.

I love the nailhead stocking holders and these black and white herringbone stockings. The deer head I have had for years and it was actually silver, so I spray painted it bronze. πŸ™‚ It now compliments our home and the bronze star atop the tree.

To fill the space below, I added birch logs to a wooden crate that I spray painted black. This year, I tried to use everything I already had as much as I could and I love the simple solution to filling the space.

I’ll be sharing more of our Christmas home in the next few weeks, but this year I am taking my time and enjoying the season. We are watching all our favorite Christmas movies, baking, relaxing and living in the moment.

I LOVE IT!! So gorgeous! You and I have the same taste. I’ve been eyeballing those stockings the last couple of weeks whenever I”m at target lol. Can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of your home.
