This year, I decided to do a black and white theme for our Christmas tree and now the theme has just continued throughout the rest of the house and now onto the front porch! With a little pop of red of course, because of our front door. Most of the year, I’m not a fan of our red door but then Christmas comes along and I love it all over again.
Keeping up with the latest trend, I kept our black and white plaid outdoor rug and layered it with a new coir mat. When I saw this mat, I knew I had to have it and it would be perfect for Christmas. I thought it was a reindeer, but the tag said “moose”. Oh well, it’s still cute. 🙂
Every year I buy miniature live trees for our porch, because I love the smell. It smells like Christmas every time I come through the door! I used outdoor lanterns from Target that I’ve had since summer. PS in case your curious about what is around our front door (I always get asked), it’s a retractable screen. We love being able to have fresh air, but didn’t want to cover up the beautiful door, so this was our solution. We’ve had it for over a year without any issues!
The wreath is probably my favorite. The lights are battery operated and on a timer, which make everything super easy. It was a little basic when I got it, so I added some cheap greenery and filler from Hobby Lobby for a fuller look.
At the top, I tied some black and white striped ribbon for a simple and modern look. The ribbon is wired, so it was easy to twist it around for some extra detail. Since our door is on the taller side, I was lucky enough to find a wreath hanger that extends, so our wreath is at normal height and not way above our heads. 🙂
What do you think? Are you going with a theme this year?
