DAY 8 – JUNK DRAWERS + MISCELLANEOUS STORAGE
The dreaded junk drawer. In our house, we have a few, four of them in our laundry room. Most of the drawers were full of a dozen lightbulbs and tons of batteries. Rolling around with no purpose and no function.
I recycled most of the unused lightbulbs and decided to assign only one drawer for lightbulbs. For the batteries, I used containers I already had and separated them according to size. These cheap organizers help keep them contained, but still easily accessible.
When I organized my drop zone, I had a lot of items that no longer belonged in that drawer such as sewing kits, picture hanging tools, super glue, etc. Simple organizers help keep all those items contained and have been assigned their own drawer.
Bonus: we still have one empty drawer and I’m not going to try to fill it up just yet. I’m sure somewhere down the road I will be able to assign it to something. 😉
TASKS FOR TODAY:
- Toss unwanted items and shed paperwork you no longer need
- Decide what items actually need to be in the drawer. Does the item belong somewhere else?
- Use drawer organizers to keep items from rolling around
