DAY 3 – ORGANIZING LINEN STORAGE
I donated a lot of our unused blankets, pillows, towels, and sheets earlier this winter, but once I took everything out I just shoved it back into the cabinets without any organization. It was time to reorganize and straighten everything.
TIPS FOR CLEANING OUT & ORGANIZING A LINEN CLOSET OR CABINET:
- put keepsake blankets or delicates in plastic bins
- use space saving bags for larger comforters or quilts
- cut up old towels to use for cleaning rags
- store sheet sets in matching pillowcase
Luckily, our cabinets are very large and deep. For the less used blankets, I folded them and placed them towards the back. Then, I organized each sheet set, folded them, and placed each set into its matching pillowcase. Now when I need a new set of sheets, I can just grab one pile instead of searching for every piece of the set.
We still have a lot of decorative pillow cases and euro shams that I like to switch out during the seasons. To keep those contained, I folded them and placed them in a fabric storage bin. Pillowcases are a little too small to stack nicely, so the basket keeps everything contained.
After organizing everything, I now have space for my throw pillow covers and air mattress that was being stored in our spare bedroom. A huge part of this organizing challenge is to everything in one designated spot, so this is a huge bonus!
TASKS FOR TODAY:
- donate old or unused blankets
- organize each shelf or cabinet for sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc.
- use baskets or bins to keep smaller items easily contained
