Welcome to the house tour…take a look around, see our DIY projects, how we updated our builder grade home, and how we made our house beautiful AND comfortable. You can also see video tours on the A House + A Dog YouTube channel.
If you’re looking for sources, paint colors, furniture or decor details – check out the Shop Our House menu to see where we bought that lamp, rug, pillow etc. for each room 🙂
– ENTRY –
Our entryway in 2015 got a little update with a DIY Ikea Hack, new paint on the door and an updated light fixture. Every season this area gets decorated over and over again – you can see it here for fall, Christmas and a shop the house series. Check out all the other entryway posts here.
– LIVING ROOM –
Ah, the heart of our home. For some it’s the kitchen, but since I don’t like to cook – the heart of our home is the living room. When we first moved in, we didn’t change much. We kept our comfy sofa from our last house, built a sofa table and made big plans for the room. I changed the rug a few times, updated the curtains and added an accent chair.
– DINING –
This is the room that has changed the most in our home. In the early years it was full of shelving, a small dining table, and lots of decor. Then, it got a big change with a new dining table, shiplap, less decor and a simpler modern farmhouse vibe.
Then another change – new chairs and less decor once again. For me, the simpler the better.
– KITCHEN –
– LAUNDRY –
Our laundry room was very builder grade until our update. We solved one of the biggest problems in our home with a new barn door, created some extra storage and added some function.
In true Allison fashion, I updated it again just a few months later and added a new sign.
– MASTER BEDROOM –
One of my favorite projects, our DIY barn door stayed for the new design and we use it everyday as a barrier between our bedroom and bathroom.
– MASTER BATHROOM –
Our master bath is very builder grade. In the three years in our home, I have only painted and updated our towel bars to these hooks. But I have big plans this spring to update this room for the One Room Challenge.
– OFFICE –
When I first decided to make this little angled portion of our hallway my office, I was all about the rustic design and details. Then a year later, I simplified things a little and got myself a new fancy chair.
Once again, I have plans to update this space too. It’s truly become my little space in the house and where I like to sit and write blogposts, browse Pinterest and shop online.
More rooms coming soon!
